StratGrip FAQ

What types of surface will the StratGrip Non Slip/Anti Slip Tile and Floor Treatment work on?

StratGrip Non Slip/Anti Slip Tile and Floor Treatment is suitable for most types of Tiles, Terrazzo, Granite, Concrete, Marble and other surfaces that have a degree of porosity. It also works well on enamel baths and shower trays.

How long will the StratGrip Non Slip/Anti Slip Treatment last?

The Non Slip/Anti Slip Treatment can last up to 3 years if maintained correctly(for home) but it depends on the amount of “traffic” causing wear abrasion the surface takes. We do however recommend the use our StratKlin Biodegradeable Multi Purpose Cleaner for after care and maintenance as it is important to keep the surface clean to maintain the treated surface at its optimum level of performance.

Is StratGrip Non Slip/Anti Slip Treatment suitable for wood and vinyl?

No

Will StratGrip Non Slip/Anti Slip Treatment change the look of the surface after the treatment is completed?

This will depend on the specifics of the particular surface. In many cases there will be no significant change in appearance but darker materials may contain artificial colorants that could fade on contact with our product and glazed or highly polished surfaces may have a reduction in level of shine. In many cases our customers find it acceptable to compromise a little on appearance if it means their floor surfaces are much safer to walk on when wet thereby taking positive steps to reduce the risk of accidents caused by slipping.

Do I get a certificate to say the surface is safer after the treatment is completed?

As the manufacturer we do not issue certificates as the applications are carried out outside our direct control. However we can recommend independent testing companies who will attend site and take readings before and after the treatment to verify the level of the Coefficient of Friction (CoF) has been increased to levels above the minimums required by the HSE. Many larger clients are required to have these independent certifications by their Public Liability Insurers

What if someone slips over after I have had the StratGrip Non Slip/Anti Slip Treatment applied?

It is impossible to completely stop people slipping over, unfortunately nothing is 100%. However if you can provide evidence (by way of increasing the slip resistance value of your floor surface) that you have taken positive action to meet your responsibilities to radically reduce the risk of a slip fall accident occurring then you will have a very strong case against being found negligent.

How long does the StratGrip Non Slip/Anti Slip Treatment take to dry?

StratGrip Non Slip/Anti Slip Treatment can be walked on immediately after treatment and rinsing so there is very little “downtime” for your business.

I display “wet floor” signs and have mats down is this OK?

Hazard signs will let a person know there is slip issue but in most cases it doesn’t prevent a person from still having to walk through the hazard. The same is also true where mats are used; they help prevent a slip but once a person leaves the mat their feet will probably still be wet from the water absorbed in the mat, causing a slip issue once their feet contacts with the hard floor. By law you have to raise the Coefficient of Friction (CoF) level of the floor to what is considered as Low Risk by the HSE.

Could I/We get prosecuted if someone slips over on our premises; surely every surface is slippery when wet?

This argument would have little or no defense in a court of law; hence the compensation awards we read about in the media. The HSE are aware that products, such as ours, exist and when applied correctly will increase the Coefficient of Friction (CoF) level of the treated surface when wet and therefore will hold a company responsible for any negligence because they haven’t researched what can be done to prevent slipping accidents and consequently have left their floor surfaces below the minimum standards required by the HSE.

FAQ for Nano Liquid Metal (NLM)

How often should an engine be treated with Nano Liquid Metal Engine Treatment?

Nano Liquid Metal for optimal performance should be every 40000km. It is not necessary to top up at every oil change.

Can NLM Engine Treatment be used in Marine engines?

Yes

Can NLM Engine Treatment be used with synthetic or mineral oil?

Yes.

 Will NLM Engine Treatment make the engine indestructible to thermal breakdown?

No, NLM Engine Treatment are designed to protect against friction, heat and improved compression ratio. They cannot be used to repair parts that are at the failing point or any pre-existing problems.

After NLM Engine Treatment is installed do I still need to change my oil according to the manufacturer’s specifications?

Yes, NLM are not a replacement for regular scheduled maintenance.

Can NLM Engine Treatment be used in diesel engines?

Yes

Do NLM ENGINE TREATMENTs contain PTFE?

No, NLM contains proprietary nanoparticles of pure metal that helps to reduce friction and heat.

What is the storage life of NLM?

Our products are intended to be used within 1-2 years.  We cannot guarantee the performance of our NLM products if older than 2 years.

Will NLM Engine Treatment Formula help with smoke coming from the car?

Yes.  NLM will help but it may not stop it completely.

How is Nano Liquid Metal (NLM) different from your competitors?

NLM treat the engine metal surfaces by chemically bonding to the wear and tear of the surface with nanometals. It does not treat the engine oil!

Does NLM improve the compression ratio?

Yes, it will improve the compression ratio over time as it builds up a layer over the wear and tear of an engine metal surfaces. Of course that will take a few NLM treatment.

How does NLM reduce the friction in an engine?

NLM does it by changing sliding to rolling friction! This is due to our spherical nanometal. Because of this special characteristic, you will feel an immediate reduction in engine noise and vibration.

Can NLM withstand the heat inside the combustion engine?

Yes, NLM has very high temperature tolerance up to 1084 Centigrade. That is why it can maintain very high effectiveness.

 Can NLM be used with hydraulic systems?

Yes, we have done practical test that shows it improves the lifting power of hydraulic systems and reduce significantly the leakage. However we have not done intensive laboratory test at the moment.

TEXTILES & FABRICS

How long is functionality guaranteed?
Since the coatings are UV-stable, functionality is possible over longer periods of time (beyond 10 years). Prerequisites are:
– No abrasion (unlikely with textiles)
– No use of strong chemicals for cleaning
Principle: If the fiber is damaged, the coating is also damaged

How does the coating handle detergents and is it machine washable?
Test result with conventional detergent (Tandil):
Textile Standard: 10 – 15 washings (washing machine)

What applications does this coatings recommend?
Any type of textiles (cotton – silk – suede – synthetic threads, etc.)

Is the coating food-safe?
Yes, as confirmed by an CBA certificate

How fast is the coating stable after the application?
The water resistance is guaranteed after complete drying. Packaging/storage of the substrate can even be started right after application.
Abrasion and chemical resistance should first be tested after 24 hours since a post-crosslinking of the product takes place.

Does the coating impact the visual appearance or feel?
No! Because of the small layer thickness (100 nanometers), there is no impact on visual appearance or feel of the substrate

Can I print on a textile after the coating?
Yes

Can the coating be reapplied?
Yes, in the case of damage e.g. through permanent abrasion, it can be reapplied like an initial application

Can two coats be applied?
Yes, e.g. in order to ensure that no spots were missed. It must be coated wet-in-wet, i.e. before drying of the substrate

How much is used per m2?
Between 25 and 100 ml per m2 – 10 ml/m2 per mm thickness of the textile

What cleansers can be used to clean the substrate after application?
Conventional detergents.
The beading effect is not working all of a sudden!

Is there detergent residue on the textile after washing?
Tensides interfere with the beading effect -> swivel out with clean water
After applying to a textile, there is no beading effect!
Detergent residue probably prevented the adhesion of the textile coating on the thread. -> Rinse the washed textiles with clear water before coating

What are the main advantages of coating for textiles compared to competitive products?
Permanence: UV stability, washing machine and detergent resistance, breathability

Can a printed textile be coated?
yes!

A coating for textiles protects against what adhesions? A coating for textiles protect  against moist contaminants. It also prevents the penetration of dirt into the threads and guarantees the easy dissolving of dirt particles

 

MINERAL SURFACES

How does the coating handle abrasion or chemicals?
The coatings are characterized by strong abrasion- and chemical- resistance.
Chemical resistance: pH value 1-12.5
Abrasion resistance on mineral substrates depend on the resistance of the substrate. Principle: If the surface is destroyed, the coating is also destroyed

How fast is the coating stable after the application?
The water resistance is guaranteed after complete drying. Packaging/storage of the substrate can even be started right after application.

Does the coating impact the visual appearance?

Can I apply a new wall color to the facade after the coating?
Yes

How much is used per m2?
Between 30 and 200 ml per m2 – depending on the absorbency of the substrate
The beading effect is not working all of the sudden!
The coating is probably dirty – Dirt particles on the coating prevent beading – Just clean with a pressure washer and the effect will return
After applying to a mineral surface, there is no beading effect!
The surface was probably already treated with another product -> Check!
If the surface is a compressed mineral surface (non-porous), then the next higher quality sector of the product may need to be selected.

What are the main advantages of the coating for mineral substrates compared to competitive products?
Permanence: UV stability, chemical resistance

Can a plastered or painted facade be coated?
In general: If the main component of the paint is mineral: yes! If not: no!

A coating for mineral substrates protects against what adhesions?
A coating for mineral substrates protects against deposits from air pollutants,
prevents the formation of mosses through hydrophobia. Large portions of dirt are washed off by rain – but a small percentage remains

Does the coating provide thermal insulation on house walls?
It was not generally developed for thermal insulation. But the coating protects the wall from moisture, which reduces the insulation degree of the wall. Thus, the coating receives the natural insulation rate of the wall
